This calculator is an estimate based on the rates saved in this plugin. Confirm the applicable rate and your ATL status before making a claim. Check FBR rate card.
The calculator gives you three useful figures straight away:
Gross Prize — the full winning amount before tax
Tax Deducted — estimated withholding tax
Net Prize — estimated amount remaining after tax
For example, winning Rs.1,000,000 does not mean the full Rs.1,000,000 will normally reach you. Your ATL status makes a big difference.
Current Prize Bond Tax Rates in Pakistan
As currently published by National Savings Pakistan, the withholding tax rates on Prize Bond winnings are:
| Taxpayer Status | Withholding Tax |
|---|---|
| ATL / Filer | 15% |
| Non-Filer / Not on ATL | 30% |
Rates last verified: 14 September 2026
National Savings describes a filer for this purpose as a person appearing on the Active Taxpayers List (ATL). Its Prize Bond information currently gives the same 15% and 30% rates for prize money, while Premium Prize Bonds are also subject to withholding tax on both prize money and profit.
Because Finance Act and tax rules can change, BondResult.com should keep these calculator rates editable rather than permanently hard-coding them.
How Prize Bond Tax Is Calculated
The calculation is simple.
Tax = Prize Amount × Tax Rate
Then:
Net Prize = Prize Amount − Tax
Suppose your winning amount is Rs.500,000.
For an ATL filer:
Rs.500,000 × 15% = Rs.75,000 tax
Estimated net prize:
Rs.500,000 − Rs.75,000 = Rs.425,000
For a non-filer:
Rs.500,000 × 30% = Rs.150,000 tax
Estimated net prize:
Rs.500,000 − Rs.150,000 = Rs.350,000
This is why checking your tax status before claiming a large prize can be important.
Prize Bond Tax Examples
Here are a few practical examples using current prize amounts and the present 15%/30% rates.
| Prize Bond | First Prize | Filer Tax | Filer Net | Non-Filer Tax | Non-Filer Net |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rs.100 | Rs.700,000 | Rs.105,000 | Rs.595,000 | Rs.210,000 | Rs.490,000 |
| Rs.750 | Rs.1,500,000 | Rs.225,000 | Rs.1,275,000 | Rs.450,000 | Rs.1,050,000 |
| Rs.1,500 | Rs.3,000,000 | Rs.450,000 | Rs.2,550,000 | Rs.900,000 | Rs.2,100,000 |
| Rs.25,000 Premium | Rs.30,000,000 | Rs.4,500,000 | Rs.25,500,000 | Rs.9,000,000 | Rs.21,000,000 |
Official draw material confirms a Rs.100 First Prize of Rs.700,000 and a Rs.1,500 First Prize of Rs.3,000,000. Current National Savings information lists the highest Rs.25,000 Premium Prize Bond prize as Rs.30 million. State Bank prize tables list the Rs.750 First Prize at Rs.1.5 million.
These figures also show why ATL status matters more as the prize gets bigger. On a Rs.30 million prize, the difference between the two current withholding rates is Rs.4.5 million.
Filer vs Non-Filer Prize Money
Here is the easiest way to understand the difference.
| Example | ATL/Filer | Non-Filer |
|---|---|---|
| Tax rate | 15% | 30% |
| Tax on Rs.100,000 prize | Rs.15,000 | Rs.30,000 |
| Net amount | Rs.85,000 | Rs.70,000 |
| Tax on Rs.1,000,000 prize | Rs.150,000 | Rs.300,000 |
| Net amount | Rs.850,000 | Rs.700,000 |
A non-filer therefore loses twice as much prize money to withholding tax under the currently published rates.
Remember that having an NTN and appearing on the ATL are not always the same thing. For a prize claim, check your current ATL position rather than assuming your status.
Does Tax Apply to All Prize Categories?
Yes. The published National Savings rule refers to withholding tax on prize money, rather than limiting it only to the First Prize. That means tax is relevant whether your bond wins the First, Second or Third Prize. The actual deduction depends on the winning amount and your filer/ATL status.
Premium Prize Bonds are also taxable. National Savings specifically states that withholding tax applies to both prize money and profit on registered Rs.25,000 and Rs.40,000 Premium Prize Bonds. Premium prize money and profit are credited directly to the investor’s registered bank account.
The calculator above is therefore useful for both ordinary Prize Bonds and Premium Prize Bonds.

The Prize Bond Tax Calculator Pakistan is meant to give you a quick estimate. For an actual claim, the tax deducted at payment will depend on the applicable government rate and your tax status at that time.
